Now he performs on a stage that was once home to musical titans from Taylor Swift to Coldplay.
For Dosanjh and his millions of fans around the world, this means that Punjabi music, Punjabi culture and Punjabi vibrancy have reached a historic moment.
Speaking to the BBC before the performance, he said he felt “grateful” to be here.
“When we were going to book this place, everyone said, ‘Think again before you book, it’s a big stadium,'” he said.
“I said, ‘We’ll see what happens next. I want our people to be happy and be able to say yes, we can do this too!”
He reflected on the many artists who have performed there before him, adding that following in their footsteps “means a lot, a lot.”
“It might not mean as much to someone like Harry Styles as it does to us. He performed on such stages, but for us this is something special. Coming here from the countryside is something special.”
“I feel good. I feel happy. And I feel good for my people. I feel good for the next generation,” he said.
And of course there was only one way for him to end.
“We are here. Punjabi Aa Gaye Oi!”
