The government has pledged £442 million., external extra money over the next three years to help end rough sleeping in England.
The statement said the money would go toward “emergency housing to end the need for rough sleeping” as well as “practical help with housing, health and other needs to help people build a more stable future.”
The new commitment, he added, will “offer everyone the opportunity to get off the streets this Christmas.”
Harlow Labor MP Chris Vince also worked for Streets2Homes as a project outreach worker.
He says Burnham’s goal is ambitious, but “it’s absolutely something we can achieve.”
“What we saw during the pandemic is that you can get people off the streets and into living spaces very quickly.”
But he adds that he has told Housing Secretary Angela Rayner that the scheme needs to have “further support”.
“It’s not just about the approach to providing people with housing, but also the support we provide.”
