India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in a tense group stage encounter at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The match was tense from the first ball, but India controlled key moments and finished well ahead.

Ishan Kishan sets the tone
Ishan Kishan played a fearless knock. He scored 77 runs in just 40 balls. He scored 10 fours and 3 sixes. He attacked both pace and spin. He did not allow Pakistan to establish itself.

Shaheen Afridi battled to the end with an unbeaten 23 off 19 balls, but the target was too wide. Pakistan lost all 10 wickets for 114 in 18 overs.
