Pakistan suffered a major setback against arch-rivals India with a seven-wicket defeat in the 2026 Women’s T20 Asia Cup in Dubai on Saturday.
After Pakistan decided to bat first, he was dismissed for just 55 in 18.1 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The total was their lowest ever score in the history of women’s T20 internationals.
Pakistan made a reasonable start with 27 runs, but India quickly took control as soon as the first breakthrough came. Pakistan’s innings then fizzled out, with nine wickets falling for just 28 runs.
Shawaal Zulfiqar was Pakistan’s top scorer with 14 off 14 balls while opener Muneeba Ali contributed 13 off 15 balls. Tuba Hasan scored nine points, but the rest of the players did not contribute significantly.
India’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings. Sri Charani took three wickets for seven runs while Prema Rawat also took three wickets while conceding nine runs.
Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma took one wicket each as Pakistan struggled to counter India’s disciplined bowling attack.
With just 56 runs needed to win, Pakistan needed an early breakthrough to build pressure during the chase. India, however, maintained control despite the loss of three wickets.
The Indian team scored 56 for three in 10.4 overs to claim a comfortable seven-wicket win.
Harmanpreet Kaur led the scoring with 18 while Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma added 12 each. India has achieved a modest target, although there is a lot of time left.
The defeat leaves Pakistan with one win and one defeat from their first two matches in Group A. They began their campaign with a 35-run win over Thailand but were unable to achieve a similar result against India.
Pakistan next face Hong Kong on September 7 and will need significant improvement with the bat to strengthen their position in the tournament.
Meanwhile, India remain unbeaten with victories over Thailand and Hong Kong.
