“They have no idea about you,” Sean tells Paurik O. “They don’t stand a chance.”
Our “leader of the faithful” stands face to face with the traitors, the first to be killed face to face this season.
“I knew you,” he tells Carla.
Indeed, the Ballymun primary school teacher knows about the ticking time bomb she spent in the castle. At breakfast, she shouts across the table to Donal and Anna to ask them to talk about the previous day’s mission and the mystery of the missing shield.
“She came with a fire in her belly,” Kaylee notes. Wanting to question Donal before Carla arrives first, Kaylee quickly pulls him aside.
“Carla scares me a little because she’s after you two, you and Anna,” she tells him.
Kaylee tells viewers at home that she wants to “test the waters” with the teacher to see if he trusts her, so she asks who he thinks the traitor OG might have recruited.
“Mine was David…” he says, naming the believers who left last night. “Sean S? Paurik O? Ian?
An irritated Kayleigh gives up after listening to Donal name half of the remaining players. But, oh, will she pay for her test…
Donal wastes no time telling Paurik O and Ian about his meeting.
“Carla told Kaylie she was looking at me and Anna. Carla told me she was looking at DJ and Diego,” he reports. Meanwhile, Kaylee tells Paurik O that Donal failed to tell her the name when she asked who he suspected.
“He came to us and said that you gave him two names,” says Paurik O.
“I told him, ugh,” she says. “I gave him the opportunity, I didn’t give him ANY names.”
“Someone’s lying,” Paurik O grins, “and I’m going to throw him straight into the hole.”
Monday night mission? Everyone is chained to a post and must find a key to unlock themselves, then stab one of the creepy hanging dolls – the remaining players and Siobhan – for 250 euros. Or, in Siobhan’s case, 500 euros. Obviously it costs more.
The last surviving doll receives a shield.
Noble Pete lays down the law: “Everyone stabs himself so there’s no arguing, okay?”
The band agrees, but behind the scenes people aren’t happy.
Pete is the last to unlock himself and Ian suggests he stab Siobhan to get the remaining 500 euros and get the shield. After all, it was his idea to sacrifice this.
Sometimes it pays to be a good guy, right?
So, we are back to the round table, perhaps the most intense of the season.
Much of this revolves around Donal and Kayleigh’s previous conversation. Donal swears that Kaylie told him that Carla said she was looking at him and Anna; Kaylee swears she didn’t.
Thanks to the fact that we recorded quotes for this review, it seems like both of them may be honest about their memories. When Kayleigh said Carla was “targeting you two” it could well have meant “an intention to chat you up” on her part, while Donal interpreted it as an attack on them as traitors.
Carla’s name also comes up, mainly because the Faithful have now decided to take seriously the literal writing on the board that Ife provided.
It’s a three-way tie between Donal, Kayleigh and Carla. After another round, Carla and Donal tied again. After the third vote, tiny Donal is banished, and just as he is in his grave, the traitors are faced with one of the most difficult moments in the game: murder in plain sight.
Traitors must take the hand of one of the Faithful and say: “Good night and thank you for the dance.”
Paurik O locks Carla in a separate room to decide how they will do this, which is echoed by some of the Faithful. They argue about who should do it and who is least likely to notice – DJ or Kaylee.
Eventually, Janet intervenes in their conversation and Paurik O makes a “split decision”.
To be fair, he does it as smoothly as possible, grabbing her hand and singing the line.
But then comes a long sigh.
– Did you kill me?
