Shaq: Don’t trust anyone. Trailer: Parineeti Chopra-starring series delves into her mother’s 9-year search – can she trust anyone?
The story centers on a mother who refuses to give up on her search for her missing child. Driven by instinct and the belief that her child is still here, her lengthy search gradually leads her to a truth that seems to have been hidden in plain sight. As the mystery deepens, she is forced to question not only what she knows, but whether she can trust the people closest to her.
Produced by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P Malhotra and directed by Rensil D’Silva, Shak: Trust No One is produced by Sapna Malhotra and Siddharth P Malhotra in association with Alchemy Filmz. The series features an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Winget, Soni Razdan, Anoop Soni, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Sumit Vyas and Dhruv Choudhary.
Parineeti Chopra, who writes about the role of the mother at the heart of the story, said, “Shaq is unlike anything I have done before. At its core is a mother’s instinct and her refusal to give up, but the story goes much deeper as her quest begins to challenge everything she thinks about the people around her. As a mother myself, I found the emotional core of the story deeply personal. There is an instinct that comes with motherhood – you will do absolutely anything for your child, and that instinct is to protect it.” finding them and never stopping fighting for them is something that resonates deeply with me. Debuting my show with such a multi-layered story with the fantastic team at Netflix, Siddharth, Rensil and the entire ensemble was a special experience. I can’t wait for audiences to step into this world, piece together the clues, and experience the twists and turns for themselves.”
Jennifer Winget added, “What immediately attracted me to Shaq was the ambiguity of his characters. Nothing is just black or white, and each carries a story, a motive and a mystery that gradually reveals another layer of the story. The mystery keeps you guessing, but it’s the emotional relationships at its core that make the tension so personal. Working with Rensil, Siddharth and this incredible ensemble and bringing this story to Netflix has been an exciting opportunity to explore a character and a world that constantly leaves you questioning what’s real and who you can trust.” I think viewers will have a lot of fun trying to piece it all together.”
Soni Razdan shared, “Shak is a story whose mystery is deeply rooted in human relationships. I was drawn to the way it explores trust, suspicion and the secrets people keep, while keeping motherhood and its emotional complexity at the center of the story. It was interesting to be part of a world where nothing is as it seems.”
Anup Soni stated, “I have been a part of many mysteries, but what makes Shaque compelling is that it goes beyond simply unraveling the mystery narrative and makes you question the people, relationships and circumstances surrounding it. The story is multi-layered, unpredictable and constantly challenges your assumptions.”
Tahir Raj Bhasin also said, “It’s great to be back on Netflix with Shaq, where each character brings another layer to the mystery. What I enjoyed most was being a part of a story that constantly changes the audience’s perspective and makes you question what you think you know.”
Harleen Sethi noted, “What really attracted me was the emotional depth behind the mystery. This is a story about relationships, secrets and how trust can change when circumstances push people to their limits. It was wonderful to be a part of such an ensemble and layered world.”
“Returning to Netflix with Shaq after Chumbak was especially exciting, especially to be a part of a story that brings together such a great ensemble. Working alongside actors I deeply admire and being a part of such a layered and unpredictable world made it a special experience for me,” said Sumit Vyas.
Dhruv Choudhary also said, “Shak draws you into a world where the truth is never as simple as it seems. What really struck me was that each character has their own point of view, forcing you to constantly question what is real, what is hidden and who you can really trust.”
Parineeti Chopra’s nine years spent searching for her child, also known as the heroine’s journey, now seems to threaten another certainty in her life – her trust in the people around her. With the trailer asking a lot of questions and changing perspectives, Shaq: Trust Nobody promises to keep viewers guessing until the truth comes to light.
