Emergency services have arrived at the scene of a serious accident on the M1 motorway. The northbound section between junction 23 (Shepshed) and junction 23A (junction A42) was closed.
Drivers were warned there would be 45-minute delays and a five-mile traffic jam at the entrance. National Highways East Midlands wrote on X: “The M1 northbound between J23 (Shepshed) and J23A (A42 junction) is closed due to a multi-vehicle collision. Emergency services are on the scene. There’s a 45-minute delay and 5 miles of congestion at the entrance.”
