Two-time Olympic shooting champion Manu Bhaker and reigning shot put champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor were on Friday (September 18, 2026) named as India’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday (September 19).

“Manu Bhaker will be one of the flag bearers,” said India Chief of Mission Sachdev Yadav. The Athletics Federation of India later confirmed that Toor would be the second flag bearer.

Bhaker made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first athlete from independent India to win two medals at a single Olympics.

Toor has finished with gold medals at the last two Asian Games.
