Daayra Critics Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was last seen in the 2024 release Singham Again opposite Ajay Devgn, is all set to make her big screen comeback in two years and we can’t keep calm about it. The diva created a stir with her Meghna Gulzar directorial Daaira, which became one of the most talked about releases of the year. Touted to be a crime thriller, Daaira also features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role along with Kanwaljeet Singh and Achint Kaur in pivotal roles.

It should be noted that Daaira marks Meghna’s return to directing after three years and also marks Prithviraj’s first collaboration with both Kareena and a director. According to media reports, Daaira is being compared to the 2019 Hyderabad case. However, Meghna clarified that the film is not an adaptation of one specific event. Interestingly, Daaira sees Kareena playing the role of a cop for the third time on the big screen after Angrezi Medium and The Buckingham Murders. While the makers recently held a special screening of the film, here’s what critics are saying about it.

On Twitter, Ramesh Bala gave Daayra 4 stars and called it a “breathtaking” watch. He wrote: “A gripping investigative thriller backed by a solid police procedural. @PrithviOfficial and #Kareena have different perspectives and are at their best, delivering powerful performances. 👏 Director @meghnagulzar has created a gripping thriller/drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end!”

On the other hand, film critic Sumit Kadel gave Daaira a rating of 3.5 stars. He wrote, “#Daira is a gripping, suspenseful and gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The film examines a sensitive case involving crime, rape, murder and justice, and revolves around one complex question: what happens when instant justice goes against the law? What makes the film successful is that it doesn’t just take one side. The parallel narrative of cruelty and justice is one of the film’s greatest strengths. Several scenes before the climax are truly unsettling and leave you stunned, while the final conversation between the main characters and the pre-credits scene make the ending linger in the mind. Overall, Daaira is a thought-provoking film that will stay with you.”

It is to be noted that Daaira will hit the screens on September 18 and will witness a box office clash with Kunal Kemmu’s VIBE.
