DMK President MK Stalin on Thursday (September 9, 2026) accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Joseph Vijay of posting videos on social media to cover up what he called “mismanagement of the government” and “deception of an entire generation.”
“There is a saying that before the truth reaches people, lies will reach everyone. That is exactly what is happening now,” Mr. Stalin said in a video released in response to the Chief Minister, who leveled a series of allegations against the DMK and its leaders and “shamed” him over the police attack he suffered during the Assembly Emergency recently.
Addressing Mr. Vijay, the DMK leader said that Tamil Nadu is witnessing murders and sexual assault of women on a daily basis and that the law and order situation is in disarray.
“But by canceling the Parandur airport project, you have turned back the clock of development by 15 years. Though you promised a complete waiver of crop loan, you did not deliver. You promised six free cylinders (LPG) but broke your promise by announcing three cylinders. You promised to increase the Magalir Urimai Thittam amount to ₹2,500 but are continuing the DMK scheme of ₹1,000 per month. You are on many promises They didn’t open their mouths,” Mr. Stalin said.
Referring to the Sarkaria Commission’s probe into alleged corruption in the DMK government led by former chief minister M Karunanidhi, Mr. Stalin said there was no truth in what Mr. Vijay said in the Assembly.
“After the Sarkaria Commission report was submitted, there was a change of government in the state and the Center. If there was any truth in the report, then action would have been taken on it,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said the Chief Minister was harping on the allegations leveled against Karunanidhi by others due to political hatred.
“You quoted letters from the Executive Directorate and accused us of corruption. In 95% of the charges leveled by the ED, there was no evidence and those who faced the charges were spared responsibility,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said that everyone knows that ED is used to settle political scores with political parties.
“The ED has filed cases against Congress leaders who are part of your alliance. I wonder how you are not aware of this even though you consider the Union government to be an ideological enemy,” he said.

“The Tamil Nadu Assembly has dignity and respect. It is the place where great leaders have shaped the state. You also have a responsibility. The debate is on how to improve the law and order situation, protect the rights of the state and take the state on the path of development. Don’t discuss unnecessary issues. It is good for Tamil Nadu and its people. This is my request,” he said.
Mr Stalin also urged voters, especially young people, to reflect on whether changes had occurred after they voted for change.
“See if this is a change. Understand which government has the administrative capacity,” he said.
Mr. Stalin also urged the party cadres not to remain indifferent to the suffering of the people on the grounds that they did not vote for the DMK.
“This is not our ideology. Like two sides of a coin, I see it as another side of working for the welfare of the people. Whether we are in power or not, we must constantly fight for the rights and development of Tamil Nadu and its people. We fought for their grandfathers and fathers and now for them. This is the history of the DMK,” he said.
