A mini PC that can handle creative work without taking up desk space is still rare, but the Geekom A8 Max is one of the best we’ve ever tested (and our hardware editor’s personal favorite when it comes to Windows mini PCs).
• Best for: Professionals, power users, and creators who need desktop-class performance and eGPU expansion.
• Deal: The Geekom A8 Max Mini PC is $949 on Amazon (was $1,099).
• Why we like it: In our review, we gave this Windows mini PC 4.5 stars with TechRadar Pro is highly recommended reward. it’s sleek, stylish, compact, and extremely powerful for productivity tasks, light gaming, and video editing. We love how well the AI-enhanced AMD processor handles AI workloads in Adobe Creative Suite, and the USB4 port is a real bonus for connecting an external graphics card if you need more complex workloads.

Why we recommend it
In our 4.5-star review of the A8 Max, we found it to be “extremely powerful,” noting that it “handled Microsoft Office tasks and applications from the Adobe Suite without too much trouble.”
We even managed AAA games and 8K video editing on this machine, although we’d recommend connecting an eGPU for more complex time frames and modern game playback.
The onboard NPU is a real benefit for AI workloads in creative software, powered by the Ryzen 9 chip, which already outperforms most mini PCs in this price range for everyday multitasking and content creation.
Communication is another strength. Dual 2.5G LAN ports, support for USB4 and 8K outputs are specs you’d typically expect from a larger, more expensive desktop rather than a compact box small enough to mount a VESA behind a monitor.

Price context and historical value
Prices for this particular configuration have fluctuated quite a bit across retailers and over time, from under $900 during some promotions to over $1,000 at others. So this is a reliable, verified price, not the lowest ever recorded, but it is a real saving over the current list price.
Is it worth buying?
✅ Buy Geekom A8 Max if…
You want desktop-level performance for office work, photo or video editing on a stylish little computer that looks like it belongs on a design studio desk, not underneath it. Or you need dual 2.5G Ethernet to set up your home office network.
❌ Skip the Geekom A8 Max if…
Do you want a simple office mini PC suitable for basic productivity tasks, or do you need more storage and RAM without having to open up the computer and upgrade it yourself.
The catch: what you need to know before buying
During our tests, we noticed that the cooling fan is loud under constant load, internal expansion is limited, and the integrated graphics can’t handle serious gaming or GPU-heavy rendering; External GPU via USB4 is a workaround, not a built-in solution.
