HAIWAAN REVIEW: PLOT, CAST UPDATE
Haiwaan is set to bring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan back together on the big screen after their 2008 film Tashan. The film is reportedly a remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam.
Saif Ali Khan plays Shyam, a blind caretaker whose life changes completely after retired judge Pradhan is found murdered. Shyam soon becomes a suspect in the case and is on the run from the police. With no easy way out, he begins his own search for the truth, trying to prove that he had nothing to do with the murder.
The situation becomes even more complicated when Shyam decides to protect Nandini, who is later revealed to be Pradhan’s secret daughter. However, ensuring her safety will not be easy as several powerful and dangerous people are also looking for her. As Shyam digs deeper into the case, he discovers a shocking secret about Nandini that could turn the whole mystery on its head.
Akshay Kumar will play Parshuram, a ruthless killer who hunts down Nandini. His character adds another layer of danger to the thriller as Shyam races against time to protect her and uncover the truth behind Pradhan’s murder.
Haiwaan also adds another film to Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar’s long-standing collaboration. The director and actor have previously collaborated in popular films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiya and Bhoot Bangla. The film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under KVN Productions and Thespian Films.
The supporting cast includes Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiami Kher, Sharib Hashmi, Rajpal Yadav, Rajesh Sharma, Pahal Chaudhary and Manoj Joshi. With its murder mysteries, chases and hidden secrets, Haiwaan promises to take Akshay and Saif into a completely different thriller space.
