Chris Kreider is a player for the Canadiens.
Today he spoke to the media.
Let’s just say it’s a little strange to see him in Habs colors…
But the reality is he’ll be playing for the Canadiens next year, and that’s really the team he wanted to play for.
His agent Matt Keator appeared on Sick Podcast and revealed all the reasons why his client thought Montreal was the best choice. First, Keator talks about American players who don’t want to play in Canada. According to him, all players want to win, which makes Montreal an ideal place for them (despite the fact that it is north of the United States).
In Kreider’s case, this factor did not bother him. His family lives in Boston, just five hours from the city.
So why didn’t he sign with Boston then? Because he wants to win in a healthy environment. This was his number one criterion.

Keator also said that when Pat Verbeek decided to opt out of Kreider’s contract, the forward’s team contacted teams and asked them not to claim him.
And as soon as he became a free agent, several teams reached out to him. We know that he has reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to join the Houses.
He wanted to play in Montreal and it shows. Montreal has truly become a popular destination (and the window of opportunity is open).
