Hilary Duff stopped her performance at Manchester’s AO Arena when she learned of a fan being injured in the crowd – and was praised for taking action

Seeing Hilary Duff in person was like paying homage to my inner child. I was delighted at the AO Arena in Manchester, where everyone was definitely nostalgic. From the stunning outfits to the Lizzie Maguire references, it really was a treat to be there.
However, the last thing anyone expected was to see fans desperately trying to get the attention of the people on stage. As Hilary sang the intro to “Holiday Party” from her new album Luck… Or Something, excitement erupted.
While nudging my friend to see if she noticed, we watched as a large group of fans began flashing their phone lights to get the camera crew’s attention.
Seconds later, Hilary paused the concert so the man could get help. Kneeling on the stage, she watched the situation unfold with obvious concern.
“Can everyone have some space please?” she asked as AO Arena staff made sure the fan was escorted safely out of the crowd.
Considering Hilary, 38, has been navigating the entertainment industry since childhood, it’s no surprise that she handled the crowd emergency so well.
She rose to fame as a teen idol in the early 2000s, starring in the hit Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire (2001–2004) and its 2003 spin-off.
Decades of live performances and dealing with the unpredictable nature of huge audiences have undoubtedly given her the composure to safely pause the show, handle the crisis and smoothly pick up where she left off.
A true testament to her experience was that she waited until the fan was safely gone before resuming the course from the top.
Acknowledging that staying hydrated in a crowded standing-room-only crowd can be challenging, she asked fans not to “crowd each other’s space” and to “look out for your neighbors,” even if they are strangers.
Just before the music started again, a short false alarm sounded. Noticing another potential problem, Hilary pointed to the crowd and asked if there was “another emergency.” Luckily, a fan gave her a thumbs up, allowing the show to finally continue.

After the situation was resolved, she reminded everyone to take care of themselves, stay hydrated and stay safe before continuing with the show.”
Other members echoed the praise in the comments. “I was there last night and can’t get over how good Hilary’s tour was. I loved the set list and there was a good atmosphere throughout the arena,” one wrote. Another added: “Wow!!! The hall is full! I love her kind heart!!!”
