TORONTO – There’s a sequel to Toronto Eve. And it brings a lot of color to the wall in Blue Jays manager John Schneider’s office.
Star pitcher Dylan Cease’s latest artwork – it’s safe to call it “Tom Selleck” given the actor’s name is in block letters scattered across the canvas – hung Friday afternoon in the same spot occupied by his previous painting.
“I thought, Why Tom Selleck?” Schneider said this in a pregame message to the media before the Blue Jays’ game with the Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Center. “And he said something about his mustache, and people said it looked like Tom Selleck’s.

“I guess that was on his mind, along with everything else.”

Cease, Toronto’s best pitcher, began drawing in 2022. His work “Toronto Eve” brought him to the Art Gallery of Ontario last month.
The gallery exhibited his work in the central atrium. A limited edition retail collection was also released, including prints, cards, shirts and bags, with proceeds going to charity.
When the original painting was removed from Schneider’s office for display, a new reproduction was hung on the wall. It contained several photographs and lines of text—“The painting was a gift, Todd”—from the movie Wedding Crashers.
The new artwork, which includes a card reading “On loan from Cease Gallery,” features dozens of vibrant colors surrounding colorful letters.
“He just replaced it, which was great,” Schneider said. “I didn’t ask for it, but I showed up after the game and it was there.”
“I never thought the name Tom Selleck would be in my office,” he added. “This is life in 2026.”
Cease, 30, signed a seven-year, $210 million deal with the Blue Jays last winter. He has a 10-5 record and a 2.40 earned run average in 27 starts this season.
