He noted that labor ministers had previously warned that “the Palestinian and Israeli economies are too interconnected” for a ban on goods from illegal settlements to work, and added: “Israeli elections are just seven weeks away, and many rightly argue that the measure will help the campaigns of fringe candidates rather than those making moderate arguments for a united Israel.”
