Rajasthan has achieved the target of planting 10 million saplings initially set for 2026-27 under the ‘Harialo Rajasthan’ campaign ahead of schedule. The mission, launched in August 2024, aims to make the desert state greener and improve its environmental health and prosperity.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday (September 16, 2026) said that initiatives such as “Ek Ped Maa Ke NaamThe campaign created widespread public awareness by linking environmental conservation with an emotional connection.
“These sentiments have grown into a massive social movement through the ‘Harialo Rajasthan’ campaign. This is a significant step towards ensuring environmental protection through public participation,” Mr. Sharma said.
Mr Sharma said the planting of 10 million saplings was a powerful symbol of Rajasthan’s collective commitment to nature. According to him, people participating in the action will take care of every planted seedling.
The state is also implementing the ‘One District, One Species’ program to promote indigenous plant species and protect biodiversity, with special focus on desert areas like Barmer and Jaisalmer to combat desertification.
Under the Aravali Green Development Project, ₹250 crore has been invested in 19 districts for soil development and plantation.
