Reformist UK Norfolk police chief criticized for 127-day theater tour

South Norfolk MP Goldsborough criticized Sutton’s decision and said: “If Colin Sutton wants to be a celebrity that is his choice, but Norfolk deserves a Police and Crime Commissioner whose first priority is Norfolk.”

Matthew Taylor, the Tory county councilor who came second in the PCC election, said he was “shocked” to learn of the former detective’s plans for a long-term career in cinemas.

“If there is a serious incident, you can expect the police and crime commissioner to be there, front and centre,” he said.

“Not operationally, that’s down to the chief constable, but in terms of providing support, communicating with the public, being proactive and being visible.”

Defending his decision, Sutton said: “I talked to the people around me and we decided it couldn’t hurt.”

He continued: “The logistics of each night are: I arrive around 7:00 pm, go on stage at 7:30 pm and leave by 10:00 pm.

“I don’t rehearse… I just literally come, speak and leave again.

“The amount of time I’m incommunicado actually cuts down to two hours when I’m actually talking on stage.

“I’m not a blue light service where I go and show up in different places.”
