A man tried to run towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy during his roadshow here but was caught by security personnel on Saturday.
However, police have denied any security breaches in this regard.
A video of a man trying to approach Modi’s car after he apparently slipped through a security barricade has gone viral on social media.
The man reported from Koppal was detained and questioned, police sources said.
Davangere Superintendent of Police CB Rishyanth ruled out any security breach.
“Nothing like this (security breach) happened. He wasn’t even near the Prime Minister. He was caught much before that,” Rishyanth told PTI.
Law and Order ADGP Alok Kumar tweeted: “As reported in a section of the media, there was no security breach of the honorable Prime Minister in Davangere today. It was a failed attempt. He was immediately caught by me and the SPG at a safe distance. Appropriate measures are being taken in this regard.”
