Giving an answer to a question posed at a free press conference is one thing, but Donald Trump repeated his sentiments shortly after, speaking to an invited audience at the US Ambassador’s residence.
In fact, it was almost the first thing he mentioned, hinting that perhaps he realized he’d knocked over a can of worms during his previous appearance.
The rest of this speech was interesting. It was billed as a 20-minute address to Irish and Irish-American business leaders, but it was about twice as long and mostly concerned with US domestic affairs.
President Trump has a speaking style he calls “weaving.”
He may move from topic to topic during any speech, deviating from the script and then returning to the issue at hand.
Today he praised his achievements as he sees them, such as stopping illegal immigration, striking deals and increasing defense production.
He reiterated his criticism of what he sees as Britain’s lack of support for its military operation in Iran.
