The banks of the holy Kshipra River in Ujjain sparkled with the light of over 25 lakh (earthen lamps) on Thursday, marking the grand celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday was celebrated in Ujjain by over 25 lakh people who lit up the banks of the Kshipra River; BJP President Nitin Nabin and CM Mohan Yadav took part in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan ceremony at Ramghat.
To celebrate the occasion, BJP president Nitin Nabin and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav lit lamps and released them into the holy river at Ramghat.
Nabin, on his first visit to Madhya Pradesh after taking over as BJP president in January, and Yadav also received blessings of saints and sages by placing garlands on them in the town of Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva), party sources said.

They took part in the lighting ceremony of ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ organized at Ujjain’s Ramghat as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long nationwide campaign (September 17-October 17) launched by the BJP to mark Modi’s birthday and celebrate his impending completion of 25 years in public service, they said.

During the programme, over 25 lakhs were illuminated simultaneously along the embankment to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, which officials said was observed as a celebration of service to the nation, determination and dedication.
