Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are set to clash in three ODI series in the United Arab Emirates from October 17 to 23, according to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).
The four-match tournament will consist of three league matches and a final as all three teams look to get a taste of 50-over cricket ahead of a busy international calendar.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will take part in a triple ODI series in the UAE from October 17 to 23, comprising three league matches and the final, to gain valuable experience of 50-over cricket ahead of a busy international schedule.
The tri-series will begin on October 17 with Bangladesh taking on Zimbabwe in the opening match. Zimbabwe will play Afghanistan on October 19, while Afghanistan and Bangladesh will meet in the third league match on October 21.
The final of the tournament will take place on October 23.
Tri-series promises competitive ODI action
The UAE tournament is expected to provide valuable ODI insights for Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, with all three sides using the competition to evaluate their teams and build momentum through a series of high-quality 50-over competitions.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni described the three series as an important test for his team as Zimbabwe will face two tough opponents.
“The three ODI series will test us against two strong sides,” Makoni said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
He said the wider UAE tour is equally important as it will allow players to compete in all three formats.
Afghanistan will host a busy UAE program
The ODI tri-series is part of the UAE’s extensive program involving Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
Before the tournament begins, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will play a one-off Test from October 9 to 13. After three series, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will face each other in three T20Is and two Tests.
ACB CEO Naseeb Khan said the matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will provide Afghan players with valuable international experience in various formats.
The three ODI series, consisting of four matches over seven days, will be the centerpiece of the October schedule and will provide fans with three international teams vying for the trophy in the UAE.
