Detectives swooped in on a man who allegedly tried to meet a girl for sex after grooming her online.
The 69-year-old man was arrested in Campbelltown in Sydney’s south-west on Monday after traveling from Port Kembla.
Another 66-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Beaumont Hills in Sydney’s north-west for allegedly grooming a girl under 16 for sexual intercourse and distributing child abuse material.
The arrests were made as part of the ongoing Strike Force Trawler project, which involves detectives working undercover online to catch child predators and groomers.
The 69-year-old man was charged with inciting sexual intercourse with a child under 10, using the services of a groom under 16 for the sender, failing to comply with reporting obligations and breaching a restraining order.
He appeared in Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday where he was refused bail and is due to appear in the same court again on November 11.
The 66-year-old man was refused bail and was due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
He was charged with using the transportation services of a groom under 16 years of age for the sender and using the transportation services for the purpose of child abuse.
