Emraan Hashmi’s Avarapan 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just five days, giving the actor his first solo hit worth Rs 100 crore. The film has already made a profit.
Avarapan 2 Box Office Collection, Day 5: The box office collections of Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 show no signs of slowing down. After a strong opening weekend, the film passed its critical test on Monday and remained strong on Tuesday. More importantly, the sequel marked a milestone in Emraan’s career.
Released in theaters on August 14, Avarapan 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India in just five days. This is especially important for Emraan as the actor has never done a Rs 100 crore film before as a solo artist.
The original Avarapan didn’t make much of an impact during its theatrical run, but its emotional story and memorable music helped it build a strong cult following over the years. Meanwhile, the sequel managed to parlay that nostalgia into impressive box office returns.
Avarapan 2 Box Office Collection Day 5
The film opened at the box office with Rs 22 crore on Friday, Saknilk said. On Saturday, collections jumped about 55% with the sequel earning Rs 33.75 crore. The increase came over the Independence Day weekend, with the number of shows rising from 9,033 on Friday to 10,496 on Saturday.
The film collected Rs 26 crore on Sunday, with the expected post-weekend drop on Monday. However, it remained stable and earned Rs 9.25 crore on its first day.
Tuesday brought another small increase. On its fifth day, Awarapan 2 earned Rs 9.75 crore, taking its total net domestic collection to Rs 100.75 crore. The film’s collections in India currently stand at Rs 120 crore and its global collections have reached Rs 144.13 crore.
Emraan Hashmi gets his first solo hit for Rs 100 crore
The Rs 100 crore mark is a major milestone for Emraan Hashmi. While the actor has previously featured in successful films like Tiger 3 and They Call Him OG in antagonist roles, Avarapan 2 marks his first over Rs 100 crore grosser film as a solo lead.
The achievement is even more impressive considering the announced budget of around Rs 45 crore. With the current collections, the film has already become a hit and has reportedly generated a net profit of around Rs 60 crore.
According to the numbers, Avarapan 2 has generated an impressive ROI of 122% in just five days, giving Emraan a reason to celebrate as the film continues to run in theatres.
