The BIMSTEC ministerial conference, which will discuss issues such as climate change and food security, is being held in Kolkata on Saturday.
Experts from various fields will discuss issues related to the seven members of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
The two-day event will, among others, be attended by West Bengal Governor K.V. Ananda Bose and Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.
“This conference has been designed to address all the pressing issues and challenges in BIMSTEC, keeping in mind the representation and perspective of each country,” said Arindam Mukherjee, Director, Institute of Social and Cultural Research, one of the organizers of the event.
The seven members of BIMSTEC are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
