Representatives of the Chennai GPO Pensioners’ Forum on Tuesday met the 8th Central Pay Commission in Chennai and discussed a number of demands pertaining to pensioners and postal employees.
The forum sought restoration of the old pension scheme, enhancement of pensions and family pensions, ease of reimbursement of commuting allowances, review of MACP benefits, increase in allowances and leave pay, and strengthening of social security measures.
He also sought the introduction of a permanent wage review mechanism, the establishment of a minimum wage of £68,000 and the introduction of running scales to replace the existing matrix pay system.
Representatives also stressed the need for improved pay scales and career progression for postal employees, as well as measures to address the concerns of women employees and people with disabilities.
The commission heard the submissions and assured the forum that the demands would be considered.
