Taylor Swift has been under a lot of scrutiny since she got married, but behind the scenes we know she’s been campaigning. She attended at least one Emmy event and at least one Grammy event for her. Eras Tour concert film and The life of a dancer. No official FYC Oscar events are happening yet, but given her participation in Toy Story 5 Premiere, on this front there was also some track recorded for “I Knew It, I Knew You,” a contender in the Best Original Song category.
This weekend at the Creative Arts Emmy, Taylor’s Eras Tour The concert film received 0 points in all categories, and the Television Academy instead chose “Benito Bowl” and “The Muppets” in the variety categories. She already has an Emmy, so I don’t know if she really craved it.
However, there is a silver lining: “I Knew It, I Knew You” is the No. 1 song on the country radio chart, the first time it has reached that position on the chart in 13 years. It’s a win—not just for her catalog, but, of course, for her Oscar chances. And over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard from reliable sources in the country that her label is trying hard to achieve this achievement, especially after Ella Langley so stifled her track “Choosin’ Texas.”
Now that the Emmys are over, Taylor’s campaign efforts will likely focus on the Grammys and then the Oscars. Given her fame and influence, and the fact that she is always willing to work on the track, it seems incredible that she is not nominated. At the same time, it is also inconceivable that she would ever admit that she was actively campaigning. Plus now there is another priority.
