A Surviving Greece A contestant who lost part of his leg in a boating accident is suing the show’s producer for $100 million, according to US media reports.
On September 3, Stavros Floros filed a lawsuit. Surviving Greece producers following an incident in May that left him with serious leg injuries.
While filming the show in the Dominican Republic in May, Floros lost part of his left leg after being struck by the propeller of a tour boat and seriously injured his right leg.
He said he was spearfishing for food on May 11 when he was struck by a propeller, and in the lawsuit reviewed by People and E! News, the contestant claims that producers required contestants to spearfish in open water without providing adequate safety measures.
According to the lawsuit, Floros and fellow contestant Emmanuel Malliaros were spearfishing in the ocean when a boat carrying about 20 tourists entered the area.
After spotting the boat, Malliaros allegedly yelled to warn Floros to get out of the way: E! They report the news.
When Floros tried to avoid the boat, “the propellers of the intruder vessel struck both vessels.” [his] legs. Impact is torn [Floros’] left leg completely—his left leg was never removed from the water—and seriously injured his right leg,” the lawsuit states.

Floros claims that the cast was tasked with hunting for food in “an area with very heavy commercial and tourist boat traffic” and the production “did not establish any designated, roped off, floated or otherwise protected safe zone from local boat traffic within which the cast could safely fish or freedive.”
In her complaint, Floros accuses the show’s producers of negligence, according to People.
He also claims that “only the tourniquet” applied to his injury “kept him alive.”
Floros was taken to a hospital in Miami, where he underwent “multiple surgical procedures, including procedures related to the traumatic amputation of his left leg and surgical repair and reconstruction of his severely injured right leg” during a 61-day hospitalization, according to E! News.
According to People, the lawsuit also names Acun Medya, Acun Medya Global, Acun LLC, media mogul Akun Ilijali and Skai TV as defendants.
Floros is seeking compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $100 million, including past and future medical expenses.
Global News reached out to AcunMedya and Skai TV for comment on the lawsuit, but did not receive a response.
In a statement about Survivor in Greece On the official Facebook page on May 12 after the incident, representatives said Floros was “out of danger.”
The statement also said that “the possibility of air transportation to a specialized center in the United States is being considered.”
Skai Television also released a statement saying it had suspended broadcasting Surviving Greece following the incident, Greek news site eKathimerini reported.
“Sky has been informed of a serious accident that occurred with Survivor the participant was in the Dominican Republic and expresses his regret and full support to him and his family,” the channel said in a statement.
“Despite the fact that production Survivor is conducted solely under the supervision and responsibility of Acun Medya, Skai is closely monitoring the progress of the participant’s health and will assist in every possible way with his treatment, as well as any hospitalization and rehabilitation that may be required,” it added.
