EDMONTON — Alberta Policing has been called to investigate the fatal shooting of a man by a police officer in west Edmonton.
Edmonton police say they received a call Sunday morning that a woman and baby had been shot.
Officers later found a man with a firearm at the scene, the release said.
Police say the 36-year-old man was given a “verbal command” but did not comply and then three officers fired their firearms.
They said a man was arrested but died at the scene, and two women and a child were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say no officers were injured and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was notified.
The agency investigates cases involving police that result in serious injury or death to determine whether officer misconduct occurred.
