- Sourav Ganguly’s 5 for 16 was the third best bowling figure for India in one-day internationals and the best by an Indian bowler against Pakistan in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 5 for 21 set by Arshad Ayub in Dhaka in the 1988 Asia Cup.
- Sourav Ganguly became the second Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in an ODI after Arshad Ayub.

Robin Singh scored an unbeaten 32 off 29 balls including 2 sixes and 2 fours at a strike rate of 110.34, Rahul Dravid scored 25 off 79 balls without a boundary and Ajay Jadeja scored 20 off 32 balls containing 2 sixes.
Pakistan’s top bowler Mohammad Akram took two wickets each, Aaqib Javed, Salim Malik, Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq took one wicket each.
Pakistan scored 148 in 36.5 overs with top scorer Shahid Afridi scoring 44 off 38 balls including 6 fours at a strike rate of 115.78.
Saeed Anwar scored 22 off 32 balls, including 2 fours and a six, while Ijaz Ahmed scored 13 off 42 balls, containing 2 fours.
India’s top bowler Sourav Ganguly 5-16, Abey Kuruvilla and Debasis Mohanty took two wickets each and one for Harvinder Singh.
Sourav Ganguly was named Man of the Match for his record-breaking bowling performance and recorded a career-best 5-wicket haul with 16 runs in 10 overs, including three maidens at an economy rate of 1.60.
