Indian hockey team is set to reignite its legendary rivalry with Pakistan with two blockbusters during the London leg FIH Pro League 2025–26adding another chapter to one of the sport’s most celebrated competitions.

These will be the first in history India vs Pakistan matches in FIH Professional Hockey League story.
India and Pakistan are two of the most iconic teams in international hockey. With eight gold medals, India is the most successful team in Olympic hockey history, while Pakistan is the three-time champion.
Pakistan are also four-time Hockey World Cup winners (the most titles won by any team), while India have won the competition once. Both teams also share 12 Asian Games titles.
India will go into the match against Pakistan full of confidence, having defeated reigning Olympic and Dutch Professional League champions in Rotterdam last week.
The Indian team also beat world number one Germany during the match in Rotterdam.
Star drag flicker Harmanpreet Singh has been named captain of the 24-member Indian team for the European leg of the Indian Pro League campaign, which began in Rotterdam and will conclude in London.
The team also includes midfielder Manpreet Singh, who was India’s top scorer against Rotterdam.
Hardik Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad and Abhishek are the other experienced players in the Indian team, which is currently ranked eighth in the men’s hockey rankings.
With the match against London, India finished eighth in the 2025–26 FIH Professional League standings with 10 points from 12 matches.
On the other hand, Pakistan, ranked 12th in the world, are at the bottom of the nine-team standings, without points after 12 games, having lost all their matches so far.
With regular captain Ammad Shakeel Butt’s participation in London unclear due to visa delays, the responsibility of leading Pakistan will fall on experienced men like Abu Bakar Mahmood and Sufyan Khan.
This is the first campaign of the Pakistan Pro League. They were invited to play in the Professional League this year as the runners-up team in last year’s FIH Nations Cup after winners New Zealand, who were originally due for promotion, withdrew.

Pakistan leads hockey head-to-head record against India, winning 82 of the 181 matches played between the teams. India won 67 times and 32 matches ended in draws.
India have dominated Pakistan in recent times, winning 15 of the last 17 matches between the teams. The last time these two teams met was at the 2024 Asian Champions Cup when India beat their neighbors 2-1.
