India Considers Doubling Port Concession Contracts to Boost Private Investment | Mint

“This move is being considered to provide investors with greater certainty and a longer recovery period for their initial and future investments, thereby reducing risk perception and improving project profitability,” the spokesperson said. “This reform complements broader efforts to ensure stability, flexibility and inclusiveness in port management, with certainty of ownership for concessionaires. The proposed extension of concession periods is expected to catalyze new investment, strengthen India’s maritime infrastructure and align the port sector structure with global best practices and other inland infrastructure sectors.”
