Actor Rajpal Naurang Yadav has received interim relief from the Supreme Court in connection with a series of disgrace cases. On Tuesday, the court temporarily exempted him from surrender on the condition that he deposits Rs 5 crore with the Secretariat by Wednesday.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana passed the order after petitions filed by Rajpal Yadav and his wife Radha Rajpal Yadav were orally mentioned in court by advocate-in-residence Saurabh Trivedi.
The case involves numerous cases of dishonesty in respect of checks involving M/s Murli Projects Pvt. Ltd. and allegations regarding payments related to the actor’s production company.
What did the High Court rule?
The interim order by the Supreme Court followed proceedings in the High Court, where Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma ruled that the sentences awarded to Rajpal Yadav in seven cases would run concurrently.
The actor was also ordered to pay Rs 1.05 crore to the complainant in each of the seven cases. Out of this amount, Rs.1,04,75,000/- in each case was to be paid as compensation to the petitioner and Rs.25,000/- was to be paid to the State.
Radha Yadav was separately ordered to pay Rs 5,51,380 to the complainant in each of the seven cases.
The High Court also took into account the Rs 2.25 crore that had already been paid and returned to the petitioner during the course of the proceedings. It ordered that this amount be adjusted in determining the remaining amount of the fine and compensation to be paid.
Earlier, the High Court granted Rajpal Yadav two months to appeal its decision in the Supreme Court. During this period his sentence was suspended.
