Tenant farmer, his daughter dead in Gandrai village of NTR district; son, 10 years old, critical

A 44-year-old tenant farmer and his 13-year-old daughter were found dead at Gandrai village in Chillakallu mandal of NTR district on Thursday (September 17, 2026), police said. His 10-year-old son, who was found with them in critical condition, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Farmer P. Srinivas is suspected of committing suicide after harming the children, 13-year-old Lasiya and 10-year-old Nikhil, assistant commissioner of police of Nandigama. Srinivas said. Srinivas and Lasya have died and Nikhil is fighting for life in the hospital, ACP said.

Srinivas cultivated land as a tenant farmer in Appala Narasimhapuram village in Nelakondapalli mandal of Khammam district in Telangana and also in Gandrai village where the family lived.

It was not immediately known what prompted him to take this action, the ACP reported. The Chillakallu police have registered a case and are investigating.
