Bilateral commitments between India and Bangladesh moved forward as delegations held talks focused on deepening cooperation in civil aviation, expanding air routes and increasing air cargo services.
The discussions took place on Wednesday during an official meeting held in Dhaka between Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi and Bangladesh Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat.
Following this interaction, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh published the following on X: “Indian High Commissioner Shri Dinesh Trivedi met the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mr. M. Rashiduzzaman Millat on 16th September 2026. They held discussions on a wide range of topics, including enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation, improving air connectivity, increasing cargo capacity, improving bilateral working arrangements and developing tourism.”
Earlier in the diplomatic schedule, on September 13, Trivedi met Zahed Ur Rahman, Policy and Strategy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, where both officials discussed a wide range of topics related to bilateral relations.
The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh said on X regarding this interaction: “The meeting discussed a wide range of topics in India-Bangladesh relations. Both senior officials expressed optimism that the two dynamic democracies will continue to work together for better people-to-people relations.”
During the same diplomatic round, the Indian envoy also held a meeting with Bangladesh’s Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Ani, discussing the need to strengthen joint efforts to meet mutual public expectations.
The High Commissioner spoke in detail about X: “High Commissioner Shri Dinesh Trivedi held a meeting with the Minister of Water Resources of Bangladesh Mr. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Ani on 13 September 2026. The discussion was also attended by the Minister of State Mr. Forhad Hossain Azad. The discussion highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation to achieve the common aspirations of the people of the two neighboring countries.”
Additionally, on September 9, Trivedi met AKM Shamsul Islam, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces, and discussed enhancing cooperation in the defense sector between the two countries.
The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh noted on X: “The discussions highlighted the strong bond that exists between the armed forces of the two countries. The meeting included discussions on a wide range of topics to enhance defense-related interactions. Both senior officials expressed their commitment to further strengthen the relationship and work together on various mutually beneficial areas of interest.”
