Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Aadi Srinivas accused opposition leaders BRS and BJP of deliberately wasting the time of the Legislative Assembly instead of allowing discussion on public issues.
Speaking to reporters at Media Point in the Assembly on Thursday, Srinivas said the House has already lost three days without any meaningful debate on issues of concern to the people. He alleged that both the opposition parties were resorting to political tactics and creating disruption in the platform meant to address public issues.
“The government is ready to discuss any public issue,” Srinivas said. “While the government is trying to hold discussions on public issues and find solutions, the two parties are colluding and creating disorder in the House of Representatives. Three days have already been wasted,” Srinivas said.
He called on the opposition to abandon attempts at “overt politics” instead of focusing on issues that matter to the people, arguing that both parties were trying to turn the Assembly into a forum for political point-scoring rather than constructive debate.
Srinivas specifically addressed the BRS, saying the party was unwilling to discuss the issue of alleged insult to the Speaker, even as it raised demands for another debate.
He also accused the BJP of creating chaos in the House by insisting on debate on Bill 22A and disrupting the process.
