Telugu actor Sampurnesh Babu, known for his work in parody comedies, is set to explore a completely different side of his acting in Nani’s upcoming film Paradise. According to a report by Cinema Express, the actor also called Paradise the biggest film he has worked on so far.

Sampurnesh Babu plays a serious role in Paradise.

Sampurnesh recalled meeting director Srikanth Odela after he received a call to listen to the script. The actor said that he found Biryani’s character instantly interesting because of his serious and unfamiliar nature.“Director Srikanth Odela called me and I went to meet him. When he spoke about the character of Biryani, I found it very interesting and completely new. I have never played such a character before in my career. It is a very serious role and it is different from all the characters I have played so far,” he said. The role marks a departure from the comic characters that Sampurnesh has been largely associated with throughout his career.

Sampurnesh also revealed that Biryani will be making a brief appearance and will remain a part of the story throughout the film. His character is Nani’s best friend and has a close bond with the main character.“In the film, I play Nani’s best friend and my character will be seen throughout the film. If I had gotten such a character three years ago, some of the mistakes I made in my career might not have happened. Working with Nani and Srikanth was a very happy experience for me,” he said. The actor went on to call the project a milestone in his career, calling it the biggest film he has worked on to date.“I have never worked on such a big film before. The makers have given me a lot of trust and I have done my best to live up to their expectations,” he added.

Sampurnesh also made physical changes for the role, following Srikanth Odela’s instructions for developing Biryani’s look. As part of the transformation, the actor lost weight and grew a beard.“I did everything that the director asked me to do. Moreover, I also decided not to do any other film until the shooting of ‘Paradise’ is completed. During this period, I received several offers, but I told them that I will not take up anything until I complete this film,” he said. The actor’s commitment to the project was also reflected in the first poster released last year. In the poster, Sampurnesh looks tense as Biryani, standing upright with a cigarette in his hand and a blood-splattered weapon while maintaining a seemingly nonchalant expression.
