
Tamil superstars Ajith Kumar and Vijay greeted fans and shared a warm hug at Silverstone in Northampton, UK on Saturday (September 12, 2026). Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, attended the opening ceremony of the Michelin Le Mans Cup race in which Ajith participated.
In an exciting moment for Tamil cinema fans, Ajith Kumar and Vijay – two of the biggest stars of the film industry – met at Silverstone in Northampton, UK on Saturday (September 12, 2026) evening. Despite 34 years of experience as film colleagues, the two superstars have not been seen in public for a long time.

Vijay met Ajith at the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Silverstone Circuit. Ajith, who had recently rekindled his passion for racing, was scheduled to take part in the race. Vijay, who was on an international trip as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was present at the spot to call off the race.
Ajith and Vijay greeted their excited fans and then shared a warm hug. As they stepped out of the car in front of a sea of paparazzi, chants of “Thala” and “Thalapathy” – popular nicknames for the stars – echoed through the venue. Dressed in a muted tan jacket, Vijay created a light-hearted moment by playfully running up to Ajith, who was in a racing suit, to hug him.

Social media has been full of anticipation ever since the two stars’ meeting was confirmed. For over two decades, Ajith and Vijay were considered two of the biggest stars and fiercest rivals of Tamil cinema. With their fans constantly competing for supremacy, even a rare moment of these two sharing the same frame was enough to send the internet into a frenzy.
Even before the reunion, Ajith added to the euphoria by saying he was happy to see Vijay taking steps to encourage the development of motorsports in India. “Thank you to the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. S. Joseph Vijay, for taking time off to visit us at Silverstone. We have been colleagues in the film industry for 34 years and I am happy for him that he is now the elected Chief Minister.”

Ajith, who took part in the race after finishing eighth in the qualifying round, asked fans not to create chaos at the stadium. He thanked fans for their support but warned them to remain disciplined. Several fans from all over India witnessed the qualifying round and cheered for Ajith even as a commentator called the actor “Silver Tom Cruise”. In the stands of the track, fans waved posters of Vijay, waiting for the decisive moment.
