Pakistan plans to play all group stage matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup in Colombo. Here’s the weather forecast for their first game against the Netherlands.
The 2026 T20 World Cup begins on Saturday, February 7, when Pakistan hosts the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. They will also face the United States, India and Namibia in the Sri Lankan capital, but rain could spoil their campaign.
The Pakistan team was also in Colombo for the 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where three of their games were canceled and several others were affected due to rain.
However, this time the stakes are even higher: the Pakistani government has decided that the men’s team will not take the field against India on February 15, making the remaining three games even more important.
What is the weather forecast for the 2026 T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and Netherlands?
There is an 18 per cent chance of rain at 10.30am – the scheduled draw time – in Colombo on February 7, according to BBC Weather. The bad news is that the chances are increasing, with an 18 to 26 percent chance of rain between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The odds then increase to 51 percent at 2:30 p.m. and range from 29 to 35 percent until 4:30 p.m.
Accuweather predicts much better weather closer to kickoff, with just a 5% chance of rain at 11 a.m. But that figure rises to 60 percent at 1 p.m. and further to 68 percent an hour later. There is also a 66 percent chance of rain at 3 pm and the forecast improves only after 4 pm, which does not bode well for Pakistan.
Weather.com predicted just a 7 percent chance of rain at 10:30 a.m., peaking at 20 percent at 1:30 p.m. However, there is a 50 to 53 percent chance of rain between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., with scattered thunderstorms also reported, signaling that the second half of the game could be affected.
